Stonehenge

"We come to Stonehenge because in an unstable world it is proper that people should look for stability to the past order to learn for the future.
The evidence is indisputable that Stonehenge and the surrounding area is one of the most powerful spiritual areas in Europe, It is right that we should meekly stand in the presence of God, but it is proper that we should sing and dance and shout for joy for the love and mercy that He shows us.
We would not run a road through Stonehenge and given our way, it would soon be removed. A very important part of the monument is now a tarmac car park, ugly to behold. We would not surround it with barbed wire and arc lamps.
Holy land is Holy land and our right to be upon it cannot be denied".

Sid Rawles - letter to the Times 28th June 1978
